Is That What I Look Like?4

This may be our sad reality, courtesy of this month’s great New Yorker cover by Adrian Tomine, a Brooklyn dad. Pfft.

CVC_TNY_09_16_13_580pxBut he has some good advice: “…avoid that sadistic real estate feature in the Times where they show you, like, ‘What you get for…$150,000’ in other cities.”

Make sure to check out this interview with him from a previous issue, too, about moving to New York and what he thinks now that this city is where he calls home.

I should clarify…I don’t think moving to Jersey is sad. I think the stereotype depicted in the illustration is what is cringy to me. And yet is the basis for pretty much this entire blog…

Jersey rules so far – one month in. I’m more upset that the New Yorker is $6.99! THAT’s why people flee the city…

Whew. Yeah. Factor in the number of times I get to read all of it, it’s probably more like $20 an issue.

It’s not all that sad out here. I went kicking and screaming (and sobbing, at times). Loving my town, and my state.
