Living Beyond the Burbs (for a week)2

It’s a pretty nice life here. We’re at my mother’s house in Coastal Connecticut for Spring Break. They’re gone, so it’s just our family, living like we live here (without work or school). It’s kind of ideal. But what I wouldn’t give for a Blue Apron and a Cafe Grumpy. I mean, there’s not even a little hometown bakery within 25 miles. It’s Starbucks or bust. And food shopping is a decent health food grocery and Big Y or Stop N’ Shop. Dismal. But you do get this…(and yes, that is Connecticut).

I was amazed at the dearth of decent food when we went to visit my in-laws in Southern California. How do people outside of cities eat??

Sandra – I don’t know! I mean that area of CT is filled with money, not to judge on that. But can you imagine a nice neighborhood in Brooklyn (or any part of NYC for that matter) without a Union Market or the like, or several? They have the market for it. Maybe that’s what we’ll do – move to a small town and open up a gourmet food store and cafe. We’d be set! (although neither of us have any experience doing this)
